Recommended Stop Nail Biting Tools :
Nail Files; Cuticle Nippers; Nail Clippers / Manicure Sets

The products recommended here have either been personally used by the author, or have received a 5-Star consumer review rating on Amazon.com.

For tools, a basic set should include:

  • Quality pair of cuticle nippers,
  • Fingernail clippers
  • High quality nail file

The product in the slideshow take you to Amazon.com where you can shop in convenience and privacy.
Nail Files - you need a good quality nail file that will not remove too much material and will leave you with an all-important smooth edge.
Cuticle Nippers - you can’t begin to take good care of your nails without these tools. You need a high quality pair of cuticle nippers. They are the only thing that will help you stop picking and pulling your cuticles. When you hangnails get hard they beg your attention. Learning to nip them cleanly without cutting into live skin is a key to returning your cuticles to a natural normal state. When you stop fooling your with cuticles, you are less tempted to bite your nails.
Nail Clippers / Manicure Sets – there is a difference between a poor quality pair of nail clippers you might find at a drugstore checkout and a high quality pair. The latter is heavier material that cuts more precisely and cleanly. A better pair will last longer too.

OPI Crystal File - Prevent nail chipping and peeling with hardened glass permanently etched everlasting abrasive surface. The ultra-fine-textured grit is the ideal filing medium for natural nails.

Amera Nail File - Gray - The file is made from aluminum oxide crystals, the same material dentists use to polish chipped teeth. Emery boards and files cut and tear the end of the nail. The aluminum oxide crystalline structure polishes the end of the nail, sealing it against the elements making your nails much more resistant to peeling, splitting, breaking and snagging.

Tweezerman File Mate Nail File (Pack of 2) - the pouch is pink making the product pretty tough for most guys to carry.  A great price and with two files one can be in the office and the other at home or car.

Tweezerman His Pocket Ceramic Nail File/ Cleaner - this is a must for guys in my opinion. It is not the easiest to use due to its thickness, but it folds like a jack knife and inconspicuously fits into the pocket. Learn to use the edges and the groove to make it work for you. I gently filed a hangnail off in a few easy strokes and promptly forgot about something that was otherwise a sure trigger for a delayed pulling or biting session.

Tweezerman Stainless Steel Squeeze and Snip Cuticle Nipper/Cuticle Pusher - You need a high quality pair of cuticle nippers.

Bonus use is the top makes a serviceable cuticle pusher. Once your cuticles start growing, you will need to occasionally gently push them down back towards the bed. Best done after a shower or when the cuticles are soft. Don’t get too aggressive. If you are not sure watch this video

1/2 Jaw Diane Cuticle Nipper - this product is highly rated on Amazon. Don’t scrimp and go for cuticle scissors to save money. The scissors are less precise and will not do the best job for you. You will be happy you spent the money to get good quality nippers. They are an essential tool in your effort to quit biting your nails.

Tweezerman His Stainless Nail Clipper Set - a good heavy duty set of finger and toe nail clippers. These clippers are designed primarily for males, but females with strong nails may like this product as well. That said, a woman with great nails once snarled at me that only men and dogs use clippers to maintain their nails.

Zwilling Ultra-slim Nail Clipper - the Rolls Royce of finger nail clippers.

Manicure & Pedicure Kit by Agesus - a complete set of tools. More than most newbies will need.  A good value for all that is included.

Body Toolz Deluxe Manicure/Pedicure Kit -

Put some combination of these recommended products together for yourself. To give yourself the best chance for success, make sure your selection includes clippers, nippers, files, cuticle cream and a hardener. Whatever you spend, it will be a small investment with a huge return when you begin to enjoy your unbitten nails.
